Chalfont

Chalfont is a typical residential centre, originally the former University of Buckingham, and is located between Oxford and London. With central London less than an hour away, Chalfont is a safe and secure residential centre, perfectly situated for school groups to explore the capital city. The centre is set in beautiful parkland, has many facilities and can accommodate larger groups.
Whether it’s an educational visit or a language holiday course, the capital city provides a wealth of history, culture and interesting places to visit. Classic SUL courses link lessons to the visits which can include world-class museums and galleries, as well as famous landmarks and exciting shopping destinations.

Windsor: Plan a trip to Royal Windsor and take a tour of Windsor Castle, an official residence of the Queen.
Events: The Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace; West End shows; plays at the Globe Theatre; various festivals throughout the year (please enquire), and Winter Wonderland at Christmas, with ice-skating.

This centre offers six wooden lodges with cafe-style communal areas and teaching facilities. The lodges include en-suite rooms, small social areas and high quality kitchenettes. Set in a 10,000 acre rural retreat just outside London the lodges sit in well-tended grounds with plenty of outside space for students.

St Austell is located on the south coast of Cornwall, famous for its uniquely beautiful landscapes and beaches, its Celtic culture and modern visitor attractions. This centre is ideally located for groups wishing to explore one of the most interesting coastal regions of Europe.

SUL has managed a host family centre in St Austell since the 1970s. Our experienced Local Organiser and host families always give a warm welcome to all our groups. The town centre, supermarkets and classrooms are all in close proximity and often within walking distance of accommodation, with beaches just a short drive away. The historic harbours of Fowey and Charlestown are also nearby.

Cornwall’s Coastal Heritage: St Michael’s Mount – with its castle and causeway rich in history and legends; St Ives – famous for its beaches and art galleries including Tate St Ives; Tintagel Castle – explore the fascinating legend of King Arthur.
Modern Attractions: The Eden Project – a modern engineering miracle including its rainforest and Mediterranean biomes, an education centre and adventure activities such as England’s longest zip wire; Flambards Theme Park.
Outdoor Adventure Activities: Surfing in Newquay – the world-famous surfing destination; kayaking and other water sports in Porthpean; cycling the Camel Trail; walking on Bodmin Moor amongst Pre-historic heritage sites.
Cornwall’s Mining Heritage: Poldark Mine and Geevor Tin Mine – discover the county’s mining past by visiting their museums and taking their underground tours; Wheal Martyn China Clay museum – discover the significance of clay mining for St Austell.
